Anything to be aware of before deploying director to exsisting environment?

Hi

We are deploying Director to our existing environment to get a central control panel. Are there any preconditions I should be aware of?

  • Does the Backend servers (I have 3) need to be exact same configuration with repos etc? or can they differ?
  • Does the hardware specs need to be the exact same? one server was deployed later and thus has different hardware.

Hi

The Logpont backend servers does not need to have the same hardware specs or the same repo layout etc.

You do need to be careful regarding the Logpoint versions running on the backend servers and the fabric + API/Director versions.

The release notes of Fabric / Director patches should have a section on which Logpoint versions that they can be used with.

The configuration (hardware and software) of the individual systems can be totally different, except the logpoint versions as highlighted by @Daniel Roth .

The logpoint systems will sync their current configuration with the director environment during the “fabric-enable” process. After that you are able to work on this from the central director environment.
